Patlabor EZY File 3 is the third of a 3-part theatrical series taking place in 2036, 38 years after the events of Patlabor on Television and The New Files. Set in the TV continuity, this new production does not take place in the same timeline as the Patlabor film series or live-action drama.

The year is 2016. As a measure against the declining birthrate, sex and marriage were subject to a license system. Yayoi uses undercover investigations to crack down on anti-establishment movements that see sex as nothing more than a tool for pleasure. At the top of the investigation file is Dongfeng, a popular newscaster who has denounced the anti-licensing movement. He has received multiple tips saying that contrary to his outward appearance, he is leading a hedonistic lifestyle... Yayoi immediately disguises herself as a fan and approaches Higashikaze, but ends up being at the mercy of Higashikaze's techniques...
